DAY 1 - MENNONITE MEAL/MONTICELLO: This morning we board the motorcoach and make a fast food breakfast stop shortly after pick up. This afternoon we visit Monticello which is located just outside Charlottesville. Monticello was the estate of Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the United States Declaration of Independence, third President of the United States, and founder of the University of Virginia. The house, which Jefferson himself designed, was based on the neoclassical principles described in the books of the Italian RenaissancearchitectAndrea Palladio. For dinner we stop in Harrisonburg at one of our favorites, Traditions Family Restaurant . (L)

DAY 2 -
HERSHEY/CHOCOLATE WORLD
SHADY MAPLE/JOSEPH:
After breakfast at the hotel, we visit Hershey, PA for a delight in chocolate. Fun and sweetness meet adventure and excitement at Hershey’s Chocolate World, a totally interactive chocolate experience for everyone and a shopper’s paradise for anything and everything Hershey’s. We have a treat in store for lunch as we go to the Shady Maple Smorgasbord. This is truly the largest restaurant you have ever been to. Afterwards, we go the Sight and Sound Theatre for the production of Joseph. Of all the characters in the Bible, perhaps Joseph is the best parallel to the character of Jesus that can be found. Sight & Sound’s depiction of this classic story magnifies the many qualities that make this story appeal to all ages. (B,L)

DAY 3 -
AMISH COUNTRYSIDES TOUR, FARMERS MARKET, DUTCH APPLE THEATER:
Today we head out to the Amish countryside for a first hand look at this old-fashioned charm and homespun warmth of these Amish folk. These families, farmers and craftsmen follow a deeply religious, family centered lifestyle that hasn’t changed much since the 1700’s. Foregoing “outside world” luxuries such as automobiles, tractors, phones or even electricity, the Amish who grace these small towns and farmland present a fascinating and authentic horse-and-buggy contrast to the hustle and bustle of the 21st century. Later today, we visit the Antique Auto Museum where we see magnificent restored automobiles displayed in unique scenes and settings. The museum experience transforms into a rare visit down memory lane as you remember those cars your parents and grandparents drove and those from your early driving days. Your visit also includes a walk through the history of bus transportation. From the days of crank starts and wicker seats to full-sized motor coaches that waited on you in style – this is the largest display of buses under one roof in the United States. Afterwards, we are off to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre to see a wonderful performance of ‘The King and I’. This is a moving story of a determined English school-teacher and the powerful king of Siam. Set against the exotic background, the timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein musical features the songs I Whistle a Happy Tune, Shall We Dance and Getting to Know You. (B,D)

DAY 4 -
PHILADELPHIA TOUR
READING TERMINAL
AMISH HOME:
This morning we pick up our guide to see the highlights of “The City of Brotherly Love” from Elfreth’s Alley to the steps from the Rocky movie where you can get your picture made with his statue. Here, we experience the waterfront and South Street to Genos or Pats for the world renowned Philly Cheesesteak. After our tour there, we will have free time at the Reading Market where 80 merchants sell everything imaginable. Tonight is a special treat as we travel to Manheim to a special Amish Family to dine in their immaculate home. Their traditional ham loaf which is served at Amish weddings will be on the family-style menu along with roast beef and lots of desserts. (B,D)

DAY 5 -
GETTYSBURG BATTLEFIELD,
BUTCHER’S BLOCK:
Today we will be visiting one of the most sacred sights in American History, the Gettysburg Battlefield. Our national park guide will help us relive the battles as we travel around to see the monuments and points of significance. For lunch, we have an all you can eat buffet at the Butcher Block Restaurant. We will arrive home early evening. (B,L)
